Micro-Blogging is a form of multimedia Blogging that allows users to communicate by sending short messages or Micro Media such as photos or audio clips and publish them, which then can be viewed by anyone chosen by the user. The main limitations are that users are restricted from writing long messages due to the 140 characteristics limit. Also personal security can be an issue.

The latest hype is around, Twitter which is a free worldwide Micro-Blogging service. Once you have joined Twitter you can use their search tool to find specific people, companies, and their tweets and have useful discussion on selected topics.

Edmodo is another example of Micro-Blogging, which provides a way for teachers and students to share notes, links, and files. Teachers have the ability to send alerts, events, and assignments to students and have a public component which allows teachers to post any privately shared item to a public timeline and RSS feed.
